HOURLY RATES FOR WORK
My fee for any service provided will be a fair and reasonable charge for the work involved.
Except where I have provided you with a fixed rate for the work to be done, my fees will generally be based on my hourly rate for time and attendances relating to the matter in question but my fee may not be limited to that rate alone and may be adjusted for factors such as the complexity of the matter, the value of the transaction, urgency, the degree of risk assumed by me in undertaking the services, the result achieved and the other factors.
My current hourly rate is $300.00 per hour, plus GST.
From time to time variations to my hourly rate may apply by prior arrangement.
administration costs and disbursements
In addition to my fee, my invoices may include an Office Services charge to cover administrative expenses such as photocopying, printing, tolls, cellular calls, postage and other office expenses. Where incurred, Disbursements are also charged to cover expenses I may have to pay to other parties on your behalf. I may require you to pay me the Disbursements part of my invoice in advance. These will be charged at cost and itemised separately.
billing arrangements
I reserve the right to render interim accounts, usually monthly, while work is in process with a final invoice on completion. However, I do not adhere rigidly to this practise. My invoices are due for payment within 14 days and my bank account details for direct credit payments are included at the bottom of my invoice. I reserve the right to charge interest on overdue accounts at the same rate as my bankers charge for unsecured overdraft facilities at the relevant time.
Professional indemnity insurance & fidelity
I hold professional indemnity insurance that meets the minimum standards set by the New Zealand Law Society. I will provide you with the particulars of the minimum standards on request.
lawyers' fidelity fund
The New Zealand Law Society maintains the Lawyers' Fidelity Fund which provides lawyers' clients with protection against pecuniary loss in certain circumstances generally excluding investment monies. I will provide you with particulars of this cover upon request.
